Old Friends, New Babies

LT and I had a fabulous playdate today with my great friend, A and her daughter AE. It was such a special afternoon since our company lives in Ohio and the last time we all played, LT was only a few months old. Not only did A and I have a great time visiting with each other, but LT and AE seemed to really hit it off! LT got a serious case of the giggles so many times this afternoon watching AE demonstrate her big girl skills. They especially had fun bouncing on the couch and hiding under the blanket. AE made us laugh when she was calling LT "Cleveland" instead of his real first name ... I'm still giggling myself just thinking about that. Its a special feeling watching your own child play with a close friend's child. I found myself thinking about the many special (and hysterical) memories that A and I have together, and it was just amazing to see our next generation playing before us this afternoon. I can't help but think how lucky we both are to be happily married and to have two healthy, happy children. Today was a great day!

15-Month Checkup

D and I took LT to his 15-month doctor's appointment. Fortunately, LT is healthy and happy, so my only concern was how many/if any shots was he getting? Well, LT had a blast in the waiting area, complete with a fish tank, slide, and a big table for cars and trucks. Once it was our turn and we found ourselves inside the doctor's examining room, LT began to get very apprehensive ... you can almost see the wheels turning, like, wait a minute, I remember this place ... then the tears turned on!

Somehow the nurse managed to take his stats - Weight: 22 lbs, 15.5 ounces (25 percentile), Length: 33.5 inches (95+ percentile) and Head Circumference: 18.75 inches (75 percentile). Once again our pediatrician described LT as "long and lean" and told us he was "off the charts" in height, LOL. Of course, D is sure this will help with his future as a professional athlete. He did receive 2 shots this appointment and he did cry, I however, did not. I guess I'm getting more brave! By the time he was dressed again, he was no longer crying and he waved bye-bye to the doctor's office from the time we walked out of the examining room until we were pulling out of the parking lot! hehehe

Mommy & Daddy's Date-night

Last night, D and I were able to go on our monthly date-night and Mom-Mom and Pop came over to watch LT. Its funny because I really look forward to getting out and spending some alone time with D, but I always get a little anxious when leaving LT behind. I know he is in wonderful hands with his Mom-Mom and Pop, but I still worry just a little ... we got a terrific report when we got home, as I knew we would, and LT had a blast with his grandparents. D and I had a lovely evening with Mexican food, a pitcher of margaritas, and a little shopping! I am already looking forward to next month!

LT's First Haircut

Well, I took LT to get his first haircut this morning at a new salon that recently opened nearby. It was nice inside and we were the only customers since we arrived at 9:30am. I let LT explore a bit and check out the styling products on the shelves so he could get acclimated with his surroundings. When we got started, the stylist brought out a big cushion for him to sit on and a penguin cape to drape around his little body. LT was a bit timid, as he can be with new people, but he held my hand and his doggie's ear, and he was OK. I explained to the woman that I just wanted a little trim around the back, his ears, and the wispy hairs that were getting in his eyes. The stylist was nice to LT and she got started right away. LT was very serious and curious about her scissors. As the haircut progressed, I could not believe how well he was doing. I was all prepared to start singing and doing my best to keep him happy, but he was just great! The stylist said LT was "exceptional" and it was one of the best first haircuts she'd ever given. I was so proud of his behavior and how calm he was. He looks adorable in his new 'do! Its a bit shorter than what I had in mind, but its still great. I kept a lot of his beautiful blond hair for a keepsake and took a few pictures for the memory books. After getting his haircut today, I am reminded of how many "firsts" LT has ahead of him, and how lucky I am to be able to share in these experiences. I think I'll remember this haircut with him sitting in the big seat all by himself with the penguin cape around him forever! Awwww, I love him soooo much ....

Chompers

LT just celebrated his 15-month birthday and still only has 2.5 teeth. While he's still a good eater and making due with his limited number of chompers, I feel so bad when he has teething pain.  He woke up from his nap this afternoon after only 45 minutes and I could tell his mouth was hurting.  He did go back down, but not without a little sobbing and even mommy couldn't take away the pain from his ever-growing teeth.  We can see plenty of white buds, but they're certainly taking their good ol' time.  As mom-mom says, "he's growing them special!"  I love his little smile now with 1 tooth on the bottom, 1 on the top, and little cracks of white poking through here and there.
